Kirby Smart, the head coach of Georgia football, has been awarded a two-year contract extension, which would keep him as the highest-paid head coach in college football. According to the University, the contract is good for a $1.75 million increase and a $13 million salary, with bonuses of up to $1.55 million annually.
Under Coach Kirby, the Georgia football program has experienced tremendous success. Since taking over in 2016, Smart’s Bulldogs have amassed an overall record of 94-16. They have also won two national crowns and two SEC titles. Following his 2021 national championship triumph, Smart was awarded a ten-year deal.
The Bulldogs’ roster is once again stacked with NFL talent; therefore, another strong season is anticipated in 2024. Georgia will have a difficult schedule with road games against Ole Miss, Texas, and Alabama, but many still think Georgia is the favorite to win the national championship. Something that will probably continue to be a recurring topic while Coach Smart is at the hospital
